FAQs

  • You can contact me via email to address any questions, or skip right ahead to using my online scheduling tool to set up a free fifteen-minute phone consultation.

If you plan on submitting superbills to your insurance provider, check your out of network benefits using this secure calculator.

  • I am pleased to offer flexible access to virtual and in-person formats. Clients must reside in and be physically present in NY or CT at the time of the telehealth sessions. Some people prefer the convenience of meeting online and others prefer stepping outside of their normal environment and routine to connect face to face. We can also do a blend of both.

Online appointments are held on a secure video platform through Simple Practice. The link for each appointment is unique and will be shared with you in appointment reminders sent via email and/or text.

My office is conveniently located in downtown Stamford, CT with both off-street and on-street parking. The office is 1.4 miles from the Stamford Train Station.

  • My office is located on the third floor of First Stamford Holistic Center at 1867 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905. (The first floor is the Dental Office of Dr. Leonard Kundel.) Summer Street is one way and the building will be on your left between 5th and 4th Streets.

The office is 1.4 miles from the Stamford Transportation Center (Metro North).

If you are driving, enter the driveway on the right side of the building. There are pull in parking spots on this side of the building and parallel parking spots on the other side of the building. In the unlikely event that all of these spots are full, there is additional street parking across Summer Street on 4th Street.

After entering the lobby, proceed through the door to your left. Walk up to the third floor. Turn left, and you will see my office door on the left. The restroom is on your right.

If my office door is closed, proceed down the hall to the waiting room which is the last door on the left. I will meet you in the waiting room at the time of your appointment.

Please call me with any issues that arise as you navigate to my office. I may be in session and not checking emails between appointments. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Add my contact to your device, and you’ll find these directions in the notes section.

  • My office is on the third floor of a renovated historic home. There is one flight of stairs to enter the building and two additional flights of stairs to reach my office. I offer telehealth sessions for those who do not have access to my office. Please also inquire about the possibility of meeting at an accessible location in the community, as that option is available on a limited basis when needed.

  • There are single-user restrooms open to all genders on the second and third floors of First Stamford Holistic Center. Gender diversity is respected in all aspects of your care.

  • Practice policies will be made available to you in the online portal after you schedule a first appointment during a consultation call. Of note, cancellations with less than 24-hours notice or no shows will result in a full fee.

  • I am not in-network with any health insurance providers. My practice is fee for service, meaning that the client is responsible for payment in full at the time of the appointment.

  • My fees are competitive for the New York City metro area and reflect my experience, advanced training, and expertise. My standard rate is $250 per 50-minute session, whether held online or in the office.

All clients are required to keep a credit card on file in my secure portal. For your convenience, payments are made automatically overnight following each session.

As part of the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost. I will provide this document for you via email after your first session.

In order to make therapy more accessible, some time-limited sliding scale slots may be available based on financial need with preference given to people with minoritized identities, especially those who are LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC. Enrollment in a sliding scale slot is reviewed every six months.

  • It is your responsibility to understand any out of network mental health benefit that you may have through your health insurance provider. I do not interact with insurance companies on your behalf.

To make the process of determining your benefits as simple as possible, I have partnered with Mentaya. Mentaya is a free and confidential service that allows you to verify your out of network benefits by completing a simple online form. The form is secure and I do not have access to the information provided.

For more comprehensive information, you may wish to call your insurance provider. I recommend gathering the following information: procedure codes and diagnoses covered, deductible amount, annual limit to number of sessions or dollar amount, and if percentage reimbursement is determined by actual fee paid or a standard and reasonable rate. Request that reimbursement funds be sent to you directly.

By the fifth day of the month, you will receive a superbill (also referred to as a Statement for Insurance Reimbursement) via email. This is the document you need to submit to your health insurance provider, typically via fax or an online portal. Services such as Reimbursify and Mentaya will do the busywork for you and submit the superbills on your behalf for a percentage-based fee. I have no relationship with Reimbursify.

Invoices do not include enough information for your insurance company. Past superbills and invoices are always available in your portal.
